After a forced break of several years, the Jewish Community of Zagreb organized a new gathering of Jewish communities from Croatia called the DOR.

The meeting was also attended by numerous communities from the former Yugoslavia. The nine-member delegation of the Jewish Community of Zemun was part of the audience that applauded the rich program.

There were nice concerts, dances and lectures, of which our members really liked Žarko Puhovski's lecture "Humanity of the Holocaust?" Of course, we liked the "program" in the pool the most, where we spent most of our time.

September 16, 2023 - New Year 5784 in the courtyard of our synagogue

For the first time in the recent history of our community, we celebrated the New Year 5784 in the courtyard of the Ashkenazi synagogue.
The symbolism of the courtyard of the synagogue is multifaceted. Before the Second World War, Jews from Zemun regularly met and socialized in it This year, several of our friends from Zemun also celebrated the arrival of the New Year with us, bringing us appropriate gifts.

On the occasion of the European Day of Jewish Culture, on September 3, 2023, the Jewish Municipality of Zemun organized the unveiling of a memorial plaque at the place where our Sephardic synagogue was located.

July 30, 2023 - Commemoration of the Zemun Jews

Members of our community gathered today at the Jewish Cemetery Zemun to commemorate Zemun Jews victims who were taken to Jasenovac and Stara Gradiska concentration camps in cattle wagons on July 27, 1942.

April 24,2023 - Nenad Fogel visiting Minister Žigmanov

The Minister for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue, Tomislav Žigmanov, spoke with the President of the Jewish Community Zemun, Nenad Fogel, about the situation in the Jewish community in Serbia.
Fogel also suggested that an action be initiated at the level of the Government of the Republic of Serbia that would contribute to an urgent resolution of the unsustainable situation in which unauthorized persons in the Federation refuse to pay funds to the Jewish communities of Zemun and Pristina.
Minister Žigmanov promised that he would do everything within his competence.

April 22-23, 2023 - The JRI Conference on Jasenovac

The 21st Jasenovac Research Institute Conference on Jasenovac was held at the M Hotel in Belgrade.
It is held with the theme: "Voices of Jasenovac: Common and Conflicting Narratives". The conference was attended by scientists from seven countries as well as camp survivors.

In the company of our members, friends and family, we celebrated the seder evening at the beginning of the Jewish holiday Pesach.

The Jewish community of Zemun solemnly celebrated Purim in our synagogue in the presence of a large number of our members and dear guests from the Jewish Community Belgrade, the City Municipality of Zemun and Minister Zoran Antić.

Before the festive dinner, Aleksandar Nećak spoke about the origin and significance of the holiday.

February 8, 2023- JCZ hosted State Secretary Zoran Antić

U As part of the cooperation with the state institutions of the Republic of Serbia, the Jewish Municipality of Zemun hosted the State Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs, Mr. Zoran Antić.

The topic of the meeting was the commemorations dedicated to the suffered Jews and other citizens of Serbia during the Second World War.

February 5, 2023 - Celebration of Tubishvat at the JC Zemun

This year's celebration of Tubishvat was truly spontaneous and relaxed as this holiday should be. Thanks to efforts of community management and our diligent female members ambience of our premises was full of fruit colors.

Presence of all generations surely contributed to the blessing communal spirit in this icy night.
